Discovered by Polk Brockman of Okeh Records at the Winona fiddle contest in 1927, Narmour and Smith became widely popular with their recording Carroll County Blues, which topped charts in 1929. Someone I Love followed with nearly equal acclaim. Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, their music endured, making them, along with the Ray Brothers, among the last Mississippi fiddle bands to record during this era.
