SETH RICHARD

• Kip Lornell’s research shows he likely came from Bedford County, Virginia.
• He made two pre-war recordings in New York.
• In 1943 he recorded again under the pseudonym Skoodle Dum Doo and Sheffield.
• He performed with a harmonica player and embraced the raggy Skoodeldum-Doo style.

CHARLIE KYLE

• Charlie Kyle was a Texas singer from the Songster tradition.
• He recorded in Memphis in 1928.
• He likely attended the session with tough figures like Bessie Tucker and Ida Mae Mack.
• Of the six tracks recorded, two remained unreleased.
• He then returned to obscurity.

FREEZONE & “Indian Squaw Blues”

• The singer behind “Indian Squaw Blues” hides his true identity.
• He uses the pseudonym FREEZONE.
• This is his only issued recording.
• He shared a disc with Texas pianist Raymond Barrow’s “Walking Blues.”

WILLIAM HARRIS

• William Harris recorded two tracks during his 1930 Chicago session for Brunswick.
• His Mississippi roots shine through in his performance.
• The track “Never Drive A Stranger From Your Door” features a driving slide guitar backing.
• This piece is a variation of the standard “Make Me Up A Pallet On Your Floor.”
• Previously, Brunswick released a 78 featuring the comedic “What Makes A Tom Cat Blue-Keith Briggs.”
