The last of four volumes featuring the complete recorded works of the hillbilly recording artist, Roy Harvey. The 4 volume set follows Harvey’s recording career over a five year period from his first recordings in New York in September 1926 to his last recording session in Atlanta, October 1931 and includes some of the finest hillbilly recordings of the era. 1931 saw the effects of the Depression take its toll on the rural recording market, even those with the most prominent careers in the old-time music business saw their careers grind to a halt. Roy Harvey, however, thanks to his contacts was able to continue recording longer than most by maintaining his collaborations with the superb fiddler Jess Johnston and by forming new associations with the fiddler Bernice Coleman and banjo player Ernest Branch. In October 1931 Roy Harvey recorded for the last time in Atlanta. 1932-34 were lean times for the rural disc business and when better times finally arrived the music scene had moved on and there was no room for the old timers such as Harvey. Includes informative booklet notes by Tony Russell and full discographical details.
